I graduated from the University of Idaho with a BS in Computer Science and a minor in Philosophy in 2003 and am now returning to school in the fall pursuing a Masters in Geographic Information Systems from Idaho State University.
I am from Idaho Falls, Idaho
I heard about the opportunity through my Masters advisor at ISU, as he and another professor needed a student to attend NOAA as an intern as part of a grant program. The opportunity to get experience in the area of atmospheric and oceanographic data processing was perfect for me going into my GIS program. So here I am.
I am working in ET7 with the Model Assessment Team, specifically Bob Zamora. Primarily I am writing code in Fortran 90 and IDL to process and plot large scale datasets from multiple research sites.
I'm a voracious speed-reader who generally reads a book every day or two, ranging from sci-fi to philosophy. Beyond my reading, I enjoy working with computers, especially on the programming side, and spending time with my wife watching movies or going out with friends.
